Helmond is part of the Brainport region, and more and more international families choose it for the space: bigger houses and gardens than in Eindhoven, for less money. Many of those houses are from the 1990s and 2000s, and they are now at the age where the kitchen, bathroom and finish are due for replacement, or the family needs more room.

Helmond's houses, old and new

Helmond has an old centre around the castle, with older houses and small streets, and a ring of neighbourhoods built in the second half of the twentieth century, such as Mierlo-Hout, Stiphout, Rijpelberg and Brouwhuis. On the edges are the two big newer districts: Dierdonk from the 1990s and Brandevoort, built from the late 1990s onwards in a traditional, village-like style.

Brandevoort is a special case. The neighbourhood was designed with strict rules on how houses look, so a dormer or an extension there has to fit that style. That is not a reason not to build, but it does mean the design has to be right before the permit application goes in. In Dierdonk and the older neighbourhoods, the rules are more standard.

Helmond is about an hour from our base in Waalwijk. Because we take on one large project at a time, we plan larger jobs here, such as a full renovation, an extension or a roof extension, where our team is on your site every working day.
